Celebrating Village Enterprise’s Impact

Last evening was one of my favorite evenings of the year, Village Enterprise‘s annual donor appreciation event, generously hosted by Brenda and Bill Younger.

It was especially bittersweet to wish Dianne Calvi a fond farewell after 15 incredible years of leading and growing Village Enterprise to what it is today, having brought over 2,000,000 people out of extreme poverty through entrepreneurship.

I even got to catch up with Lucy Wurtz who, with Yanik Silver, first introduced me to the organization over ten years ago.

Taddeo Muriuki was in town, as always, now in an even more important role of working at the government level to expand Village Enterprise’s work at a larger level.

Jeremy and Taddeo

He was also THE first person to get his hands on the authors proof copy of Your Business Growth Playbook and quite enjoyed the chapter on Impact at Scale where I introduce readers to Village Enterprise and the work they’ve been doing around the globe at scale.

Their impact is real and measurable. To date:

  • Over 300,000 entrepreneurs have been trained.
  • They have facilitated the creation of over 100,000 businesses.
  • This work has directly transformed the lives of over 2,000,000 people.

Out of over 225,000 nonprofits evaluated worldwide by Charity Navigator, Village Enterprise is one of only three nonprofits to have received a perfect four-star 100% rating and the only international nonprofit with a perfect score.

Every copy of Your Business Growth Playbook sold directly supports Village Enterprise and their tremendous work in eliminating extreme poverty globally, THE top cause of the United Nations.

A big thank you to Winnie Barbra, Zach Hoins, Aubrey Davis, Peter Carpenter, and the rest of the team for the great work they’ve done – and continue to do. So grateful to have such caring leadership making a real and measurable difference at a global scale.

Asante sana, marafiki zangu!
